Work specialization – is it a necessary evil?
The bad thing about having knowledge in a wide variety of areas is that you end up not having a very deep knowledge of any of the areas. As they say “Jack of all trades…”.
In a world where we are moving from specialization to generalization… which of the two is most important or rather successful? Deep knowledge about certain areas only or wide but not deep knowledge on many areas? As you ponder upon the question, let me leave you to believe that surveys show that successful individuals on a general basis lack in-depth knowledge about a particular subject area of concern and typically are known to be “Know alls”
